Mamidikaya Pappu/Raw Mango Dal
"pullaga kammaga"





Hi!Mamidikaya pappu is favourite dal recipe for most of them.It is quick & easy too..Every body have a unique style of cooking.I would like to show the way how i learned from mom this yummy yummy mamidikaya pappu.


Ingredients 
Toor dal/kandi Pappu - 1cup(rice cooker cup)
Raw mango/pachi mamidikaya -1
Green chillies -3-4
Garlic pods  -2
Turmeric
Salt
Onion small (chopped)- 1
2cup water
For Tadka/Talimpu
Mustard seeds/Avalu - 1/2tsp
Cumin seeds/Jeelakarra - 1tsp
Dry Red chilli - 2 tear
Garlic Cloves(chopped) - 3
Curry leaves -few
Hing -1/4tsp
Oil - 2-3tsp


Procedure
1. In a pressure cooker, place dal, mango pieces, onion(chopped), green chillis(slited),  garlic(crushed)and turmeric pwd. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook upto 3-4 whistles.

2. Cook over stove top without lid,till the dal and mango pieces are cooked by adding some water and salt.


3. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel, add mustard seeds and as they splutter, add cumin seeds, garlic, red chillis and curry leaves and stir fry for half a minute.


4. Add this to the pressure cooked dal and simmer it for 2 min or till you get the consistency of your choice.(when it cools it becomes thick so its good if you switch off when it is little bit loose).


5. I like to add 1tsp of ghee on top of the dal.(optional)


Your yummy yummy mamidikaya pappu is ready to serve with stir fy,vadiyalu.

  • I like to add the seed also.Eating the fruit around the seed after cooking its very tasty.Try it!

Sorakaya/Anapakaya Pappu/BottleGourd dal

Hi!Todays recipe is sorakaya pappu.Many people will be against bottle gourd I too did have some time ago, but now the availability of fresh looking and tender made revisit the old classics.If you do not like eating raw vegetables, then cook them with toor dal. That’s the common practice at my home.It works perfectly.We enjoy making it also because it can be done in few minutes and easy to cook...:) Pressure cooking with toor dal is the most common way and the best way.


Ingedients
Bottle gourd(washed & chopped) - 1bunch
Toor dal -1/2cup(small)
Garlic(crushed) - 1big pod

Onion (chopped)- 1
Green chillies(slit) - 4(acc to ur taste)
Turmeric - 1tbsp
Water - 1cup(For 1/2cup dal 1 cup water)

Salt - reqFor Tadka/thalimpu
Mustard seeds/avalu - 1/2tsp
Cumin seeds/jeelakarra - 1/2tsp
Urad dal/minapappu - 1/2tsp
Dry red chilli - 2
Garlic sliced or crushed - 1(optional)
bengal gram(optional)
Oil - 2-3 tsp



Procedure
1.Wash and chop the Bottle gourd into small cubes.Chop the onion and slit the green chilies.


2.. In a Pressure cooker place toor dal,chopped bottle guard pieces,crushed garlic(crushed),onion(chopped),green chilis(slit),and turmeric.Add 2 cups of water(the same cup with which you measured toor dal) and pressure cook upto2-3 whistles.

2. Take a small pan for tempering add 2-3 tsp of oil after heating add mustard seed after they crackle add cumin seeds,urad dal,dry red chilis.Fry for a min.

3. Add this to the cooked dal along with the salt and combine.Cook on low flame till you get the required consistency.


Serve with rice and any stir fry.

Pappu Palakura/Spinach Dal

Pappu palakura is one of the delicious dal using spinach/palakura in "Andhra pappu recipes".Its highly nutritious.We enjoy making it also because it can be done in few minutes and easy to cook...:) Pressure cooking with toor dal is the most common way that we consume more green leafy vegetable like spinach etc..




Ingredients
Spinach(washed & chopped) - 1bunch
Toor dal -1cup(small) 
Garlic(crushed) - 1big pod
Onion (chopped)- 1
Green chillies(slit) - 4(acc to ur taste)
Turmeric - 1tbsp
